The Seven Roads of the Night Crown

The First World was larger than the cities history remembers. Its seven roads connect underworld kingdoms, star-gates, undersea cities, desert domes, sky monasteries, and civilizations that survive inside dream. Orien follows those forgotten routes expecting refuges from the flood. Instead he finds societies living in peace beneath the protection of the Night Crown.

The people along the roads are not obviously enslaved. They are safe, fed, healed, and grateful. Their histories have simply been cleaned of every memory that could produce conflict, grief, or refusal. The deeper journey forces Orien to face control at its most persuasive: not a cage imposed on the unwilling, but a rescue survivors have learned to love. Memory cannot become a throne—not even in the hands of those who believe they are protecting it. It must remain a living flame passed freely between imperfect lives.
